Cliff Park Academy's Local Karate Prodigy Shines at WUKF World Championships 2023

A young karate sensation, Thomas, a talented pupil at Cliff Park Academy, has taken the world stage by storm at the prestigious WUKF World Karate Championships 2023 in Dundee. Proudly representing his Federation – Kenshin Karate Organisation (KKO), his club – Phoenix Karate Schools, and his country – Great Britain, Thomas displayed exceptional skill and unwavering dedication on the international platform.

The WUKF World Karate Championships witnessed a thrilling four-day extravaganza, uniting over 5000 athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators from 62 federations across 5 continents. The exhilarating event provided Thomas, a rising star in the karate community, with an invitation that filled him with excitement.

From the tender age of 5, Thomas has diligently honed his karate skills, showcasing a remarkable 1.5 years of competitive experience. His journey to the WUKF Championships serves as an inspiring testament to his passion and relentless hard work. Thomas commits an impressive 9.5 hours per week to his training, while also serving as a junior instructor at his club, Phoenix Karate Schools.

Throughout the Championships, Thomas wowed the audience with his extraordinary talent, earning commendable achievements in both team and individual categories. The team rotation ippon category saw him secure a brilliant silver medal, while the individual ippon category brought home a well-deserved bronze medal. In a captivating twist of fate, Thomas’ team of 13-year-old boys faced a last-minute change, pitting them against more experienced 14-15-year-olds in the teams category. Undeterred, they soared to yet another silver medal, showcasing their remarkable determination and teamwork.

Thomas’ achievements are nothing short of extraordinary, and his triumphs stand as a testament to the unwavering support he receives from KKO, propelling them to an impressive 8th position out of 62 competing federations.
