Our new Principal at Cliff Park Ormiston Academy – Ms T Poulter

Miss T Poulter

As one head steps into retirement another is preparing to take up the reins at a “success story” Academy.

Rob Sherington, principal at Cliff Park Ormiston Academy, in Gorleston retired at the end of the academic year having taken the school from special measures to being ranked in the top 20% of schools nationally for progress.

He hailed the Ormiston Academy Trust group who took over the school two and a half years ago for helping to drive up standards and for seeing him as part of the solution when things could have taken a different turn.

The 56-year-old father of four who has been at the helm for seven years said he was delighted to be leaving the academy in such good shape and it was “the right time” for both him and the school to have a change at the top.

Miss T Poulter who has been a Vice Principal at the school for three years became the new Principal in September.

She said: “I consider it an honour and a privilege to be taking the role of principal at Cliff Park Ormiston at such an exciting time in the academy’s journey. As a mother, as well as a teacher, it is my firm belief that all young people are entitled to a first-class education and I will endeavour to ensure that all we do represents excellence for the community that we serve.

“I genuinely believe all young people have the potential to succeed and I actively support a strong home-academy partnership. I know together we can create an inclusive academy, where all students feel safe and secure, enjoy their learning and achieve.”
