Cliff Park Ormiston Academy’s production of Annie
On Wednesday 1st and Thursday 2nd March, students from Cliff Park Ormiston Academy proudly performed the musical “Annie” to members of the local community at St George’s Theatre in Great Yarmouth.
The production saw students from Years 7-10 showcasing their incredible acting, singing and dancing talent in a 2 hour production which they had been rehearsing for since November 2016.
Students had built up to their first performance night by hosting an audience from Edward Worlledge Primary School and St Nicholas Priory Primary School on Tuesday 28th February, which was a resounding success and set the cast up perfectly for their first curtain call to a paying audience the next day!
The production was a whole academy affair with Geography Teachers Miss Adcock and Miss Hawkins (amongst others) joining forces with Head of Music and the show’s Musical Director Miss Green to form a live band. Mr Herridge, our Technology teacher, took all the official photographs from the performance. The Cliff Park links didn’t stop there however, with former student, Tristan Griffen, now a professional theatre and events lighting designer, working with Drama Teacher and the show’s Director Mr Howard on all things technical.
All involved would like to thank St George’s Theatre for their fantastic facilities and for being such warm and welcoming hosts. We hope that the strong and flourishing relationship that the Academy and the Theatre now has will lead on to bigger and better things in the future.
The Academy will be back at St George’s Theatre in the autumn for their second Performance Showcase, following the success of their first in November 2016.
I would personally like to thank the staff and students for all of their long hours of hard work that has led to such a fantastic production of Annie, and to the staff, students, parents, family and friends who came to watch. We look forward to seeing you all in the autumn for Cliff Park’s second Performance Showcase!
