Year 6 Transition Hub

Year 6 Transition Hub

Miss Poulter

Dear Year 6,
I am excited to be welcoming you to Cliff Park Ormiston Academy as our new Year 7 intake in September 2020. Whilst it is sadly not possible for us to meet in person now, I am really looking forward to getting to know you all and helping you on your important journey with us over the next five years. I know you will excel in your studies and make us, and your family, proud with your best efforts and future results.
I expect five years probably seems like a very long time right now, but believe me when I say that those years will literally fly by. Cliff Park is a very special place and I want to make sure that you get the very best out of every moment. As a result, we will be arranging lots of transition activities for you and your family as soon as we are able to safely have you on site again.
In the meantime, I would like to introduce you to our ‘Transition Hub’, which has been designed entirely for you! Here you will find lots of information about the academy, as well as some useful activities that will help you to prepare for your transition to secondary school. I hope you that you find it useful and that you enjoy using it.
Please stay safe during these strange times. I look forward to seeing you personally very soon.

Ms Poulter

Welcome from Mrs Malley-Chambers, Assistant Principal

Welcome from Mrs Malley-Chambers

Hello Year 6, soon to be year 7 class of 2020, a year I am sure we will not forget in a hurry.

My name is Mrs Malley-Chambers and I am one of the Assistant Principals at Cliff Park Ormiston Academy who leads on Transition. I am very excited to welcome you virtually, but am looking forward to meeting you face to face and start you on your exciting journey through Cliff Park Ormiston Academy.

I know some of you may be feeling a little worried, nervous or even anxious about joining us soon, but can I reassure you that this is perfectly normal. Some of you may be feeling really excited and looking forward to moving into High School and this too is perfectly normal. Whichever it may be we are going to do this “together”. Every step of the way you will be led and guided, plus offered support to make this experience effortless and enjoyable.

Over the next few weeks you will be receiving further information regarding Cliff Park and your transition: this Hub is here to support and guide you, as is our Academy website.

I will be in touch again shortly, but until then see what you can find out from our website and hub! “Ask Cliff” is an excellent way to see what other Year 6 students have asked in the past, but I have also included my email for you and your parents to use.

Until we meet… Stay safe.
Mrs Malley-Chambers

Introduction to Cliff Park

Please have a look at this PowerPoint which talks you through: How high school will be different, what there is to look forward to, what you should do if you have a problem and what happens next.

Normally this PowerPoint is presented to Year 6 students in their primary classrooms, but as this is not possible it has been recorded for you to view at your leisure.  You can then send any questions to or have a look at the frequently asked questions section with “Ask Cliff” below if there is anything that you are not sure about.
