Pupil Premium & Year 7 Catch-up Funding
The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 and is paid by means of a specific grant based on the school census figures. It is primarily for pupils registered as eligible for Free School Meals.
However, a premium has also been introduced for Looked After Children, children who have been adopted from care and for children whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces.
The Pupil Premium is additional funding given to raise the attainment of these pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.
It is a priority for the Academy that the additional funding reaches pupils who need it most and that it makes a significant impact on both their education and their lives in general:
- The Pupil Premium is used to provide additional educational support to improve the progress and raise the standard of achievement for these pupils. In particular, it is used to narrow and close the gap between the achievement of these pupils and their peers.
- The funding is also used to address any inequalities in terms of opportunities between children eligible for Pupil Premium and their peers.
The Principal and Governing Body have agreed a policy for Pupil Premium to guide the use of funds and to ensure that it represents value for money.
The Principal and Leadership and Management Team will regularly monitor, evaluate and review strategies put in place for Pupil Premium and report to the Governing Body on its progress and impact. To monitor progress on attainment and achievement new measures have been included in the performance tables and capture the achievement of pupils covered by the Pupil Premium. At Cliff Park OA the usual cycle of data collection and the consequent monitoring and tracking will also be used to inform judgements about pupil progress, to facilitate early identification of need and to evaluate interventions.
