Cliff Park Partnerships
We are very proud of the links we have made with local charities and universities. Below is an outline of some of the partnerships that took place in 2015/16:
- engaging our parents in academy improvement to raise levels of achievement and improve life chances
- provide a service to our local community beyond educating their children
- engaging with local businesses and other organisations, to provide enterprise opportunities for students and, in turn, provide local businesses with the workforce skills they require
- provide a hub for learning, sporting and leisure opportunities for all members of the community
Examples Of The Work We Do:
As an academy, we are continuously promoting community cohesion. We do this by relentlessly striving for the best opportunities for all young people, irrespective of their background, and through our growing SMSC provision, which explores and encourages respect for diversity; promoting tolerance and fairness for all. More recently, however, we have been looking at new ways to promote stronger links with the wider community:
As a member of the Ormiston chain, we work closely with Ormiston Families and now have a full time Engage Worker at the academy. By bridging the gap between home and school she provides advice and support on any issue young people and their parents face such as healthcare and careers guidance. Her work at the academy has contributed to significant improvements in both attendance and attainment.
Through our lettings and extensive Enrichment Programme we continue to liaise with, and help to develop, opportunities for all members of the community.
We have held a number of Business Breakfast Meetings that have been well attended by both local companies and other educational establishments such as, the UEA. In addition to collaborative work with key Subject Leaders to improve our provisions for mutual benefit, students have profited from a wide range of support. This has included careers information and guidance, work experience placements, enterprise experiences, Art, History and Technology Community Projects, mentoring and Summer School placements.
We continue to develop our close links between the academy and Great Yarmouth College, The Nexus Centre and Access To Music. We work together to improve teaching and learning and to widen pupils’ curriculum choices.
Fusion Hair Design continue to offer our students pre-apprenticeship opportunities within their growing business, with some students starting relevant qualifications and on-the-job experience from Year 9.
